Mitsubishi has officially launched the 2014 Challenger SUV aka Pajero Sport in Australia and is now available as a four-wheel drive models only (4WD). The company has removed the list of Challenger 2WD models in the Australian market, but the model gets some revisions to its exterior, including front bumper, grille and tail lights.
The entry-level 2014 Mitsubishi Challenger will go on sale at Australian dealerships with a starting price of $42,490 (MRRP) for the 4WD manual models, while the automatic version starts at $44,990 (MRRP). The new Challenger 4WD LS with automatic transmission have a MRRP (Manufacturer’s Recommended Retail Pricing) of $49,990.
However, Mitsubishi said that the highest variant “Challenger 4WD LS” will be equipped with a five-speed automatic gearbox as standard equipment on the vehicle. In the combined cycle, the Challenger with manual gearbox has fuel economy ratings of 8.3-liter/100 km, while the automatic version is rated at 9.8-liter/100 km.
The 2014 model year is offered in seven exterior color options, including Titanium, Cool Silver, Ironbark, Terra Rossa, Dark Blue, White and Black. The standard model is equipped with 16-inch alloy wheels, while the range-topping LS variant offers 17-inch alloy wheels. Other features include flared wheel arches, side steps and black roof rails.
Moving into the cabin, the base model comes with several standard features, such as 4-speaker audio system, 6.1-inch colour touchscreen, AM/FM radio, CD/MP3 player and full Bluetooth 2.0 connectivity. While the range-topping LS models featuring 6-speaker audio system, Mitsubishi Multi Communication System (optional MMCS), 7-inch colour touchscreen and satellite navigation with 3D mapping.
